WP8: Dissemination and Demonstration

Objectives

This work package will maximize the outcomes of the PANOPTESEC project through effective dissemination activities. This involves development of the Dissemination and Exploitation Plan, coordinating the contributions to publications, conducting workshops, and supporting the public website. In support of the final operational workshop, this work package also involves preparation for and integration of the Demonstration System Prototype (WP7) into the ACEA operational networks.

ACEA is responsible for this work package.

Description of Work and Role of Partners

Task 8.1 - Information Dissemination (Month 1 - 36)

This task will disseminate relevant project outcomes to the cyber security research and development community, relevant user communities, the EC, and the general public. This includes the following activities:

  • Establish a project website (D8.1.1) as a means to support dissemination activities as well as provide an appropriately secure mechanism for partners within the consortium to share project results. This may include a project intranet, shared data storage location, or similar means;
  • Develop a Dissemination and Exploitation Plan (D8.1.2) to identify the most suitable dissemination means and products for the needs and goals of the project as well as defining a credible technology road-map for exploitation and implementation of results;
  • Raise awareness, through clustering and coordination activities between relevant projects active in the cyber defence area, to cross-fertilise, share data, and perform peer review; and
  • Build a sustainable business model through various exploitation activities (market analysis activities, productization, standards development, product endorsements, etc).

Two report deliverables will be prepared, one to capture the results of dissemination activities (D8.1.3) and the other to capture the results of exploitation activities (D8.1.4).

Task 8.2 - Demonstration Setup (Month 21 - 36)

The goal of this task is to conduct all activities needed to prepare for the operational workshop to be held as the final dissemination activity. The task involves:

  • Create the Operational Workshop Plan (D8.2.1) that will frame the final operational workshop. The operational workshop will be structured to evaluate the integrated PANOPTESEC system in comparison with existing tools and techniques;
  • Develop specific use cases to drive the operational workshop activities. The use cases will take the form of operational scenarios that can be applied at a component by component level including both proactive and reactive scenarios. Proactive scenarios address use cases involving collection, correlation and analysis of infrastructure and non-infrastructure (e.g., public vulnerability awareness) data. Reactive scenarios address detection, analysis and response to active attacks;

Proactive scenarios address use cases involving collection, correlation and analysis of infrastructure and non-infrastructure (e.g., public vulnerability awareness) data. Reactive scenarios address detection, analysis and response to active attacks;
  • Install the Demonstration System Prototype (from WP7) in a contained operational environment and ensure that all interface and services are functioning for the operational workshop (D8.2.2). The envisioned environment will be an operational domain of the ACEA corporate infrastructure, including connectivity and monitoring of SCADA systems supporting power and water purification services; and
  • Capture the results of the operational workshop in a report deliverable (D8.2.3) including the assessment of the operational system against project objectives, measures of performance, and results of industry observer feedback and surveys.
